The PUNCH: The Independent National Electoral Commission has expressed concern about the challenges it is facing as it prepares for the 2023 elections. The INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, while appearing before the House of Representatives Committee on Electoral Matters, said that the recent flooding across the nation had destroyed no fewer than 20 offices of the commission.

The Guardian: Any hope of the group of five governors (G5) of the leading opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) reconciling with the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, was dimmed, yesterday, as the group vowed to increase attacks against him for backing the National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

This Day: The National Security Adviser (NSA), Maj Gen Babagana Monguno (rtd) yesterday said strategies and approaches adopted in tackling security challenges by the military and other security agencies were yielding positive results.

The Nation: There was a gale of endorsements yesterday across the six geo-political zones for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidates, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shetiima. Politicians, women groups, farmers, artisans, peasants and youths vowed to mobilise for the victory of the standard bearer on the platform of the ruling party in next year’s poll.

Daily Trust: Presidential Candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has said he would dialogue with all groups with a view to restoring peace in all parts of the country. Kwankwaso’s statement came days after his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi, said if elected, he would dialogue with members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and other agitators across the country.
