Fox has added another familiar face to “The X-Files.”
Annabeth Gish will be reprising her role as FBI Agent Monica Reyes for one episode during the event series.
The character appeared toward the end of the first series, working with both David Duchovny’s Fox Mulder and Gillian Anderson’s Dana Scully.
Mitch Pileggi is also back as FBI official Walter Skinner, and William B. Davis will return as frequent Mulder and Scully foil, the Cigarette Smoking Man. Tom Braidwood, Dean Haglund and Bruce Harwood are also back as the conspiracy-obsessed trio the Lone Gunmen (known individually as Melvin Frohike, Ringo Langly and John Fitzgerald Byers).
New cast members on the revival series include Joel McHale, Lauren Ambrose and Robbie Amell.
During the Television Critics’ Assn. summer press tour, Fox showed reporters a clip of the new “X-Files,” and it was clear that chairmen/CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman were particularly proud of the project — although they were mum on plot details.
“Seeing David and Gillian back on the screen is incredibly exciting,” Newman said. “Their chemistry is off the chart. I know many of you are fans of the show. And, in fact, some of you were big supporters back in the day when ‘The X-Files’ was on the air … We promised Chris [Carter, creator] we wouldn’t give away anything about ‘The X-Files.’ Remember, ‘Trust No One,’ one of the mottos of the show. ”
